How to apply additional licensing for new Channel Players or features
When customers purchase new features or additional Channel Players for their AxisTV System, they will receive an email with the additional licensing attached. Although the License Manager will allow browsing to activate the new licenses from any directory, there will be a login failure if the licenses aren't in the proper license folder when the Upgrade Device utility is used in the future. To avoid this problem, use the following steps to apply the additional licensing to the Content Manager:
1. Save the attached License Files to the AxisTV Licensing directory, typically "C:\Program Files\Visix (or TEi)\AxisTV Content Services (or AxisTV)\License"
WARNING: Failure to place the new license files in the License directory will cause future updates/upgrades to fail.
2. A License Manager tool is included with AxisTV that allows you to activate a new License Keys. On the Content Server, run Start | Programs | Visix (or TEi) | License Manager. Click File | Activate Feature. Select “I already have an activation key” and click Next. Click Import Activation Key to import a key and then click Activate. Repeat for all keys that require activation.
3. Once you are licensed for additional players, you will be able to add them to the system, as follows:
a) For versions 5.0.x to 5.5.x: Go to System | Manage Channel Players (or Manage Displays), click Add, enter the Network (DNS/IP) Name, Friendly Name, Port 6500 (for versions 5.5.x only), and click Finished. Then, configure the settings for the new display.
b) For version 6.x: Go to Configure | Channel Players (or Configure | Channel Players | Current Settings), click Add, enter the Network (DNS) Name, Friendly Name, Port 6500, and click Finished. Then, configure the settings for the new display.
c) For version 7.x: Go to Configure | Channel Players | Hardware (or Configure | Channel Players | Current Settings), click Add, enter the Network (DNS) Name, Friendly Name, Port 6500, and click Finished. Then, configure the settings for the new display.
4. Once you are licensed for additional playlists and crawllists, you will be able to add them to the system, as follows:
a) For versions 5.0.x to 5.5.x: Go to System | Content Settings, expand either the Playlists or Crawllists section, enter the information, and click Add.
b) For version 6.x: Go to Configure | Content Settings, expand either the Playlists or Crawllists section, enter the information, and click Add
c) For version 7.x: Go to Configure | Content Settings, expand either the Playlists or Crawllists section, enter the information, and click Add
5. Once you have added new playlists and crawllists to the system, they will be available to be assigned to users of the system, as follows:
a) For versions 5.0.x to 5.5.x: Go to System | Manage Users and move the new playlists/crawllists from the Excluded field to the Included field for each user that you want to have access to them.
b) For version 6.x: Go to Configure | Security | Users and move the new playlists/crawllists from the Excluded field to the Included field for each user that you want to have access to them.
c) For version 7.x: Go to Configure | Security | Users and move the new playlists/crawllists from the Excluded field to the Included field for each user that you want to have access to them.
