marcairhart:Does the news ticker plug-in available for the AxisTV system support any RSS feed? I’m particularly interested in the following feed which shows major earthquakes from around the world: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/catalogs/7day-M5.xml For our purposes, we'd like to only show the latest two or three quakes or past day’s worth. Obviously, the image of the location on the globe wouldn’t work in a ticker, but if it could grab the magnitude, location, depth, date and time, then that would be useful. Can the plug-in do this?
Hello marcairhart,
The AxisTV RSS Feeds feature is RSS 2.0 compliant. The URL that you provided is not. However, you can select the RSS 2.0 feed from here: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/catalogs/ from the Atom and RSS Feeds section on the web page. This URL is: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/catalogs/shakerss.xml
Once you got the URL, you need to configure RSS Feeds in AxisTV Web interface, Configure|News|RSS Feeds. On the configure screen you can limit the number of items imported by count and by date. Once you import some data, you can create a News Ticker, Create|Ticker|News Ticker. On this screen you can configure the format of the ticker. Schedule the created ticker and you should be set at this point.
